ABOUT THE ARTIST


Michael C. Irving, Ph.D. sculptor/psychotherapist, is a dynamic individual whose energies are simultaneously directed through a successful career combining three fascinating areas: art, psychology and writing.

Dr. Irving is the Artistic Director of the highly successful community social arts initiative, the Child Abuse Survivor Monument Project. The final bronze Child Abuse Survivor Monument is to be located in a premier location in downtown Toronto.

The Monument Story

Dr. Irving is a world leader in developing the theory of Natalism, which illustrates parallels between creative expression and the pre and perinatal experience as seen through a cross cultural images and artistic expressions in art.

Irving has produced stone, bronze, resin and steel sculptures. He has been exhibited in group and solo shows at public and private galleries, libraries, universities and psychology and medical conferences. Irving has won international awards for stone and woodcarving. He has sculpture in private and corporate collections internationally.
Dr.Irving feels both his art and his healing work are greatly influenced by his Choctaw and Cherokee heritage.
