Book III: To Break the Silence
Chapter I: In the Dark Forgetting

SOMEDAY

A foster mother
tells how she found
cigarette burns
on a young girl’s chest.

Tears burn my eyes,
slide down my cheek,

hang off my chin
stain my blouse.

Someday
Someone will cry for me.
