As an immigrant to Canada
in 1975 I was taken by the great economic, historical and
cultural significance of the role of the Eastern White Pine
(pinus strobes) in Canadian history and the extent of its
presence in both practical and fine furniture. Previously
I had worked mostly with hardwoods in furniture and relegated
pine to structure hidden under paint grade cabinets. I came
to develop fondness for the warmth and richness of pine
and its manner of aging and received many commissions for
both simple and elaborate Canadiana Pine Furniture.
